multimedia environments and holographic installations.
Isabel Azevedo is a multimedia artist who investigates the relationships between art, science and technology. Having light as a subject matter, she produced and presented multimedia environments and holographic installations, in places like Teatro Académico Gil Vicente, Coimbra, Museu Grão Vasco, Viseu, Centro Cultural de Congressos de Aveiro, Portugal, Stadtmuseum, St. Pölten, Áustria, Gallery 286, London, UK, Kinetica Art Fair, London, UK, Surreal Vintage, London, UK. Isabel received the Revelation Prize in 1º Biennale of Art of Sintra, 1987. She has published and given talks in several international conferences, CIANTEC - International Congress in Art, New Technologies and Communication, São Paulo, Brasil, VIII International Symposium on Display Holography, Shenzhen, China, SPIE's Photonics West, San Francisco, USA, 9th Symposium on Display Holography, MIT Lab, Boston, USA, 10th Symposium on Display Holography, Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Isabel is a Postdoctoral researcher from Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, Portugal, in Art Studies – Holographic Image, in the Faculty of Sciences, Department Of Physics and Astronomy, University of Porto, Portugal, and in De Montfort University, Leicester, UK; PhD in Art Studies, from the University of Aveiro, Portugal; Pós-graduation in Fine Arts/Holography under a grant from Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Portugal; Graduation in Fine Arts/Painting from Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto, Portugal.
Since 2013, Isabel Azevedo and Elizabeth Sandford-Richardson, have been collaborating on a series of digital art holograms and lenticulars. Because their similar interests to explore the artistic performance potential within holography they are questioning the holographic space, its time, and its place in contemporary art, proposing a new kind of performance and live art.
